My Story

We sadly lost our amazing husband, dad, son, brother and friend, Gareth Prodger, on 6th March this year after a long period of illness caused by kidney and heart failure.

In Gareth's memory, I will be taking part in this year's London Bridges Walk as part of #TeamKidney on Sunday 6 July 2025 with my brilliant friends, Gillian Richards and Elizabeth Choules.

Gareth lived with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), which also affected his Dad, Dave, who passed away in 2005. The reality of living with kidney failure is gruelling- typically involving three four-hour dialysis sessions per week, every week, sometimes for years, until a transplant is possible (unfortunately Gareth didn't make it that far). Transplant is not always straightforward and even if successful, donor kidneys sadly don't last for ever.

Every day 20 people are diagnosed with kidney failure and only research can change this. You can make research happen. By donating anything that you can, you will be supporting a future where people can live free from kidney disease. Kidney disease ends here.

Massive thanks to everyone who has been supporting our family - it means a lot. Carrie and James xxxx
